FED:Afghanistan back on Gillard's agenda

The issue of Afghanistan is back on the agenda for Prime Minister JULIA GILLARD with
the death of another Australian soldier.

Defence says Perth-based SAS TROOPER JASON BROWN was killed overnight in northern Kandahar
after he was shot several times by Taliban fighters.

Ms GILLARD held an immediate press conference .. saying it is devastating to receive
the news of the death of another Australian soldier .. the 18th to die in the mission.

Ms GILLARD says it is always difficult to hear that news .. and Australia's mission
in Afghanistan is a vital but dangerous one .. which has bi-partisan support and one she
is determined to continue.
